Darksiders III teased by developer

If you’re a fan of Nordic Game’s Darksiders series like I am, you’ve been hoping for a third entry into the Darksiders series for some time now, even if it seemed like it may never become a reality. However, with the recent release of the clever-yet-cheesily named Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition, things started to look up for fans of the mythical, post-apocalyptic title. And now, courtesy of a developer working for Nordic Games and Gunfire Games, we have confirmation that Darksiders III is actually being considered.

In a forum over on the Steam discussion boards, which Steam user Sethyr posted to express his disappointed in the title’s re-release, Nordic Games developer Reinhard Pollice commented on how the remaster of the game was designed to “get some spotlight on the franchise again” and “reactivate the community”. You can check out the full quote below:

Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition was just the start. Since we acquired the franchise we were looking for options for doing a DS3. The remaster was just a way to get some spotlight on the franchise again, reactivate the community and have a better starting position for DS3.

While Pollice hasn’t officially confirmed that a third Darksiders game WILL be going ahead into development, but fans are certainly hoping that the Deathinitive Edition sales warrant the publisher to make a third entry in the series a reality. After all, the franchise really does have some major potential, and at the very least, fans certainly do deserve some closure for the story of the four horsemen.
