AYANEO 3 Announced as the World’s First Modular Handheld PC

Chinese PC manufacturer AYANEO has announced the latest handheld PC gaming device in their flagship line with the AYANEO 3, the world’s first modular PC gaming handheld. With a huge variety of options available to the consumer, gamers the world over will be able to pick up a device that meets their exacting needs and specifications.

The AYANEO 3 has just been dropped via an IndieGoGo campaign and has come front-loaded with an impressive array of modular bits and bobs. The company’s flagship line, which includes the original AYANEO handheld and the AYANEO 2/2S revisions, has long been a contender in the handheld PC gaming space.

Easily one of the more powerful devices available to handheld PC gaming enthusiasts, the AYANEO line has previously offered unparalleled performance, although it has come with a higher price tag and high power draw. Either way, the line is famous for being aimed at hardcore PC enthusiasts who want to be able to tweak everything to their exacting standards.

The AYANEO 3’s killer new feature is the inclusion of new, modular controller sticks. You can swap them out between various configurations, including various face button/thumbstick combos, but most impressively, it also includes an option for touch plates similar to Valve’s SteamDeck.

You can check out the info sheet below if you want to see what variations are on offer for the new AYANEO 3, and don’t forget to head over to the IndieGoGo page if you want to back the project and pick up a unit for yourself.

If you’re already familiar with some of AYANEO’s older systems, such as the 2, there are a few hardware revisions that you should be aware of, outside of the modular controls and the power upgrade. The customizable buttons are still around near the Hall-Effect triggers, but this time, they’re a little larger, and they’re joined by a couple of extra custom keys on the back of the device as well.

The speakers have also been moved around to the front so they’re actually pointing at you instead of down towards your lap. You also get to choose between standard LCD and OLED screens and can pick up the extra modular controller parts for a small extra investment.
