With Gamescom 2017 wrapped up and now in the history books, the only thing left are the Gamescom awards, celebrating the most critically acclaimed games showcased during the event.
This year’s Gamescom awards list has been revealed, but who came out on top?
Nintendo received the most awards, including the Best of Gamescom award which went to Super Mario Odyssey and Best Mobile game for Metroid: Samus Returns. Here is the full list of winners:

Gamescom “Most Wanted” Consumer Award – Super Mario Odyssey – Nintendo
Gamescom Indie Award – Double Kick Heroes – Headbang Club
Nintendo bagged 6 awards in total, with 5 of them going to Super Mario Odyssey. Microsoft, Ubisoft, EA, Sony, Bandai Namco and Activision Blizzard only won two awards each. It’s clear that there is a lot of hype surrounding Mario’s new adventure, and by what reports are saying, it’s well deserved. IBTimes UK reports that Super Mario Odyssey’s booth was “easily among the most popular at the show” with massive lines queuing up to play the Switch exclusive game. Super Mario Odyssey will release on October 22nd.
