Final Fantasy XII HD Remaster Announced for PS4

Following Square Enix’s recent push to make past entries in the Final Fantasy series available on current gen systems, they announced earlier today that Final Fantasy XII, currently the only game in the series not available on any modern console or PC, will be getting an HD remaster in 2017 on the PS4 under the title Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age. While no other platforms have currently been announced, the PC has gotten its fair share of Final Fantasy releases the past couple of years, so it is very likely Final Fantasy XII will also make its way there at a later date.

This new version is a remaster of Final Fantasy XII: International Zodiac Job System, a Japanese exclusive re-release of the game with many gameplay improvements and additions, and it is thought by many fans of the series to be the superior version of the title. This follows on from Square’s previous HD remasters of previously Japanese exclusive Kingdom Hearts titles a few years ago.
