Grand Vegas Casino is one of those little games you see advertised and pass by. There are so many little games like this available that it’s hard to know which one to go for. I’ve had this issue with chess games. It’s remarkably difficult to find a little chess game with a good AI to play against. Most of them are either far too hard and perfect or just make really dumb moves when they don’t know what to do. I’ve been looking for a good poker game that knows how to really play the game well and be a little random like the game is in real life.

Grand Vegas Casino not only has an excellent Texas Hold’em poker game but also boasts Blackjack, Roulette and a slot machine. I’m not going to explain the rules for each as I would assume if you are here, you already know. However, the game does a great job with its tutorials in explaining how to play and win at each. The Roulette table, specifically, has the best as it gives you 13 betting strategies to try.
The betting against other NPC players at the table in each of the games is really where the algorithm of the developers will shine. As the game I have most experience with is poker, that’s where I spent most of my time playing to see if the game’s algorithm was good or not.
A lot of poker is not about your hand but about playing against the person you are up against (James Bond in Casino Royale – and he is right). The best hand doesn’t always win. So, knowing that, it’s always been hard to force AI-driven opponents in poker games to make mistakes or fold. You always suspect in your mind that the computer can read your cards and cheat, so it won’t do things you would expect.
However, I am finding being able to read what the AI opponents are doing in this game very difficult, which means I’m very happy! That is much more life-like. The AI here, for example, will go all in on cards it shouldn’t, so it knows how to bluff and bet like a pro! To be able to recreate that kind of skill in an AI poker game is superb. I assume it’s the same for opponents in the other games too, but as I don’t have the same real life experience, I can’t be sure.
The visuals of each game are clean, crisp, and smooth, but the UI in which to occasionally do things, like raise your bet, is a little awkward. You have to move a cursor over the scroll column and then click a few times. It should have been more easily achievable by using buttons, not by moving a cursor. There is no flash to the game, unlike other online casino games, it’s just pure as it is betting fun.
My only real gripe with Grand Vegas Casino is that as you earn more money, you can’t bank some of it. This means that the more you earn, the higher the base stakes get with you. So, when you have around 2 million credits, the small and big blinds go from 50 to 100 credits to 100,000 to 200,000!

The game also has some nice sound effects of shuffling and dealing cards, alongside some pleasant background music.
At the end of the day, for £4.49, you can’t go wrong. Grand Vegas Casino is a simple casino game. However, this is one of the best casino games I’ve played in a long time due to its excellent AI. There are no online features to play against other humans, but to be honest, this didn’t bother me as the in-game AI was excellent. It’s such a simple but excellent little game.
