Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers Officially Revealed, Releases February 2020 in Japan

Atlus has finally released more information regarding Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers, its upcoming collaboration with Koei Tecmo and Omega Force to bring the Persona series to the Musou (or Dynasty Warriors) series.

The game is an action-RPG with a story mode that takes place six months after the end of the original Persona 5 (and likely the upcoming Persona 5 Royal expanded re-release) and follows the Phantom Thieves reuniting on their summer vacation. That is until Palaces, the cognitive worlds created by twisted people, start springing up again. There is also a new character revealed during the trailer released today. Most impressively, this will act as a direct sequel to Persona 5 and utilise the same style of both in-game and anime cutscenes, even allowing the player to explore new cities similarly to Persona 5.

The game takes the traditional gameplay of the Musou games and gives it a Persona-styled coat of paint, with the players controlling any of the Phantom Thieves (minus the navigator, Futaba ‘Oracle’ Sakura) as they destroy hordes of shadows in the form of demons from the Shin Megami Tensei franchise. It is unconfirmed whether Kasumi Yoshizawa from the upcoming Persona 5 Royal will make an appearance. The trailer does briefly reference the first four entries in the franchise, as well as music from all the past games appearing in Persona 5 Scramble as pre-order DLC; however, it is yet to be confirmed whether characters from Personas 1-4 will make appearances.

You can watch a translated version of the first trailer from YouTuber ‘Lettuce Sauce‘ below.

Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers will release February 20th, 2020 for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in Japan. This marks the series’ debut on the Nintendo Switch console (Atlus’s Shin Megami Tensei V is still MIA). No English language release for Persona 5 Scramble has been announced by Atlus USA or Koei Tecmo as of yet.
