Valve won’t be exhibiting at E3 2015

Valve will not be exhibiting at E3 2015, the company has confirmed to VentureBeat. Valve’s exclusion from the world’s biggest convention is nothing new for the company but will mean that its virtual reality headset, ‘HTC Vive’, will be hard to view, if at all and will only be at the event via third-parties as HTC are also not exhibiting on the show’s floor. The company is well known for not attending E3, with its last meaningful presence back in 2010.

On top of that, Valve’s Steam Controller and Steam Link, two new pieces of hardware set to launch later this year, will also be missing from E3 2015 and is instead likely to be marketed via Valve’s Steam platform and during smaller events in the run-up to their launch.

Unfortunately, that also means that any announcements regarding some of Valve’s most popular franchises, Left 4 Dead 3, Portal 3 and Half-Life 3, will not be made at E3 2015.
