PUBG Xbox One Test Server Gets Dynamic Weather and Limb Penetration

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is set to get dynamic weather and limb penetration on Xbox One. Both new features have been added to the Xbox One test server for PUBG where they will now be tested before being patched into the main game.

PUBG’s Xbox One test server only comes online when Bluehole needs to test upcoming features. Having previously been used to test the new Miramar desert map, as well as a number of other additions to the game, the test server has been switched back online to properly test dynamic weather and limb penetration for the Xbox One version of the game.

The first new feature, dynamic weather, is said to completely change the way players play the game as it will change a number of variables, including player’s visibility and hearing. Heavy rain, for example, will make it harder to hear other player’s footsteps, whereas fog, on the other hand, will make it more difficult to see other players at range and will make shooting that much harder.

As for limb penetration, it will enable bullets to penetrate a limb and deal damage to another part of the body that the limb may have been covering. For example, if a bullet hits a player’s arm that was covering their head while running or jumping, the bullet will deal damage to the head. This will also apply if your character is blocking another player as the bullet will now be able to penetrate your body and hit the player behind you. According to Bluehole, limb penetration will be added for all guns except shotguns.

There’s no indication yet as to when dynamic weather and limb penetration will be added to the Xbox One version of PUBG, but providing everything goes smoothly on the test server, it shouldn’t take too long. It’s likely that the Sanhok map will also be added to the test server at some point ahead of its release on Xbox One.

Access to the test server is available to anyone who owns a copy of PUBG on Xbox One. Simply search “PUBG Test Server” on the Microsoft Store.
