Need for Speed reboot heading to Xbox One, PS4 and PC

EA has announced that it is rebooting the popular Need for Speed franchise with the release of “Need for Speed” on Xbox One, PS4 and PC this autumn. However it won’t be available on last-gen consoles or the Wii-U.

Titled just Need for Speed, the game is being created by Ghost Games and is being built on the same version of the Frostbite Engine as Star Wars: Battlefront and according to executive producer Marcus Nillson, the Need for Speed reboot has been developed by listening to fans to deliver an experience that will capture gamers imagination.

“Need for Speed is one of the most iconic names in gaming, and we’re returning it to greatness in this reboot, pulling on our 20 years of history, and then taking a year out from releasing a game, we are making the game we’ve always wanted to. We’re listening to the fans and delivering an experience that will capture their imagination and unleash their passion for cars and speed.”

A teaser trailer can be viewed below showcasing the games visuals and wetting appetites ahead of its full reveal at E3 on June 15.
