Metal Gear Survive Announced as Konami’s First Post-Kojima Metal Gear Game

Konami’s first game in the Metal Gear franchise since parting ways with Hideo Kojima will be Metal Gear Survive, described by Konami as a co-op survival stealth game. Metal Gear Survive will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC at some point in 2017.

Metal Gear Survive will look to offer a fresh take on the series famed stealth elements, which is what Metal Gear Solid is arguably best known for, while also being set in a “unique co-op setting that is designed for a truly engrossing multi-player experience.”

The game will be set on a distorted desert landscape in an alternate timeline following the ending of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. Apparently, the alternate timeline is the result of unexplained wormholes forming in the sky.

“We are delighted to announce another exciting addition to the Metal Gear franchise,” said Tomotada Tashiro, European President for Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. “Metal Gear Survive will offer a fresh take on the series’ famed stealth elements but within a unique co-op setting that is designed for a truly engrossing multi-player experience.”
