Respawn Entertainment has revealed that its battle royale game, Apex Legends, has been played by more than 50 million players worldwide since the game launched on February 4th.
CEO of Respawn Entertainment Vince Zampella posted the news on Twitter and thanked everyone who has supported the game in its first month.

Since launching earlier last month, Apex Legends has taken the gaming industry by storm and has already proven to be a massive success. It was so popular at launch that 10 million players jumped into the game within the first 72 hours alone, with the game hitting 25 million players just a week after release. That means that a staggering 25 million more players have jumped onboard within the space of three weeks.
As well as being mechanically solid and a blast to play, Apex Legends is also free, which has no doubt helped it become the success it has in such a short space of time. While Fortnite still surpasses Apex Legends when its come to player base, it did not experience the growth Respawn Entertainment’s game has in such a short space of time.
Compared to Apex Legends, Fortnite had reached a reported 10 million players within the first two weeks of its release, with Epic Games seeing their game hit 20 million players four weeks later. It took Fortnite roughly half a year to hit the milestone of 50 million players.
It should be noted, however, that Fortnite’s growth rocketed following the release of the game on iOS and Android, so without a mobile version of Apex Legends, it’s unlikely that the game will ever surpass Fortnite’s numbers. We’ll have to wait and see what direction Apex Legends heads in next, but a mobile port doesn’t seem to be out of the question.
