Highlights of the Xbox E3 Briefing 2018

The Xbox 2018 E3 Briefing took place two days ago, and Microsoft had a lot of content to showcase. A total of 50 games were on display, including 18 exclusives and 15 world premieres.

Here are the highlights of the major announcements and reveals…

Halo Infinite

The Master Chief returns in what Executive President of Gaming at Microsoft, Phil Spencer, regarded as his “greatest adventure yet.” The title is being developed by 343 Industries and will be powered by the new Slipspace Engine. The sixth instalment in the Halo franchise is an Xbox and Windows 10 exclusive.

 

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

The developers of Dark Souls and Bloodborne, FromSoftware, are teaming up with Activision to take us on a journey to ancient Japan. We can expect a samurai-filled adventure with tons of hacking and slashing.

 

Fallout 76

Bethesda’s Todd Howard gave fans an exclusive look at the much anticipated Fallout 76, along with some key information. A brand new E3 trailer was revealed, and we learned the new MMO-style Fallout title will be ”four times the size of Fallout 4.”

 

The Division 2

We got to take a look at some gameplay for the second instalment of Ubisoft’s shared world shooter, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2. In the first game, the events took place in New York. In this sequel, Washington, D.C. will be home to the third-person shooter action. It arrives on March 15th, 2019.

 

Gears of War 5

Gears of War 5 is being developed by The Coalition and is on its way to being released in 2019. The fifth Gears of War title will feature a female lead. It was also confirmed that the brand new, Gears POP! is coming to iOS and Android, plus the new PC exclusive, Gears Tactics was revealed.

 

Devil May Cry 5

Last week, news surfaced that Capcom had registered a domain for DMC 5. Now, it has been officially confirmed that the title is coming in Spring 2019. It’s a direct sequel to Devil May Cry 4 and will feature the character named Nero returning to the franchise.

 

Forza Horizon 4

Forza Horizon 4 was revealed. The Xbox exclusive driving game will focus heavily on the changing of the seasons. The change in weather is going to have an impact on the way players perform in their races. The title will hit the shelves on October 2nd later this year.

 

Just Cause 4

Just Cause 4 was mistakenly leaked a couple of days prior to the Briefing via an advert on Steam. Square Enix’s title is going to revolve around Just Cause’s returning main character, Rico Rodriguez, as he travels to Solice, a South American world of conflict. It’s confirmed to release this year on December 4th.

 

Dying Light 2

Dying Light 2 is the second title to arrive in the open-world, post-apocalyptic survival series. It will feature tons of brutal first-person combat and parkour.  Players will make decisions that will have a great impact on the world around them.

 

Battlefield V Story Trailer

A trailer for the popular War Stories mode was showcased for EA DICE’s Battlefield V. We briefly get to see the main character of this War Story, a female Norwegian Resistance member fighting Nazi occupation. The title will officially launch on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 19th this year.

 

Jump Force

Jump Force is Bandai Namco’s new 3D anime fighting game. The roster will be made up of characters from various Shonen Jump series, such as Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, One Piece and Death Note.

 

Ori and the Will of the Wisps

Ori returns in a sequel to the 2015 title, Ori and the Blind Forest. The platform-adventure game is being developed by Moon Studios, and we can expect to get our hands on it sometime next year.

 

Kingdom Hearts III

For the first time ever, Kingdom Hearts will be playable on Xbox. A new trailer for Kingdom Hearts III was showcased, which featured the cast of Frozen. Elsa, Anna, Olaf and Kristoff all made their appearances.

 

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

A trailer for Lara Croft’s latest adventure, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, was showcased at the Briefing. She returns as the title releases on September 14th later this year.

Some other notable announcements include Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition coming to Xbox in Winter, and the Black Desert Xbox One beta will be launching in Autumn. The new skating game called Session was also revealed, and we found out Battletoads will be making a return next year. We also learned that Nier: Automata is arriving on Xbox One later this month.
