Overwatch’s Torbjorn Gets a Nerf On Consoles

Blizzard have announced that the hero Torbjorn in their latest first-person shooter Overwatch will receive a nerf on consoles in the upcoming patch.

Torbjorn’s turret damage will be reduced by 30 percent on Xbox One and Playstation 4, with the PC version remaining unaffected. Game Director Jeff Kaplan posted the following on reddit.

In an upcoming patch, we will reduce the damage done by Torbjörn’s turret by 30% on Xbox One and PS4. PC will remain unchanged.

ETA – Mid to late July depending on 1st party certification times.

Players expected Torbjorn to be nerfed on consoles due to the lack of keyboard and mouse, with the less precise aiming of a controller making it harder to accurately shoot the turret which gives you less chance of surviving. The adjustment to the damage dealt to this weapon may therefore be just the change Overwatch players have been looking for.

The dev post attracted a variety of responses on reddit, with some players worried that a 30% reduction was too much and others suggesting that adjusting the range and time lock of the turret may be more effective.

One reddit user had this to say.

It’s not the damage that bothers me, its the insane speed and range of the damn thing.

Blizzard recently released competitive mode on the Patch Test Realms. PC players have been able to try out Overwatch’s competitive mode before it is released live. But there hasn’t been any word on when this mode will be released.

Stay tuned for more information on Overwatch.
