Leon S. Kennedy RE9 Leather Jacket Review

As a massive Resident Evil fan, and with Halloween on the horizon, the opportunity to try out a replica of Leon S. Kennedy’s outfits from the game popped up, so I said, ” Hell yeah, let’s try it out,”. His latest look in Resident Evil Requiem is arguably one of his more distinctive, combining a rugged black leather jacket with a fur-style collar and belted detailing. Fandom Jackets has produced its own version, but does it look like something Leon would actually wear, or is it simply another gaming-inspired jacket?

Appearance

The biggest selling point is undoubtedly the design. The black leather exterior, double-breaster front, faux-fur collar, and belted cuffs capture the overall silhouette of Leon’s in-game outfit. It has a heavier, almost military-like appearance that feels appropriate for a character who has spent decades fighting biological monsters.

What I particularly like about the design is that it doesn’t scream cosplay. Unlike a jacket covered in logos or Resident Evil branding, this is something you could wear casually with a nice pair of jeans without it looking too out of place.

The overall design is recognisable enough that fellow fans should immediately understand the reference, but it’s also understated enough to work as an everyday jacket.

Fit and Comfort

One of my biggest concerns with replica clothing is whether it’ll actually fit well. Thankfully, that’s not an issue here. The jacket fits well, sitting comfortably without feeling excessively baggy or restricting movement.

It has the substantial feel you’d expect from a leather jacket, and the lining makes it comfortable to wear. The structured design also helps it maintain its shape, giving it that fitted, rugged look rather than making it feel like an oversized coat.

It’s the sort of jacket that feels natural to wear rather than something you put on purely for the gram. Whether you’re heading out casually or showing it off to fellow Resident Evil fans, it does the job on both fronts.

However, there is one detail I find difficult to praise: the straps around the wrists.

Yes, they are part of the design of the character, so I understand why they’ve been included. Visually, they help recreate the character’s look, but in practical terms, they feel pretty pointless. I haven’t found them useful to help with the feel of the sleeves, and they come across more as decorative details than something that serves a genuine purpose.

Verdict

The FandomJackets Leon Kennedy RE9 leather jacket is a solid purchase for Resident Evil fans who want something wearable rather than a full cosplay outfit.

The fit is good, the overall appearance captures Leon’s style convincingly, and it feels like a jacket you can genuinely incorporate into your wardrobe. My biggest gripe is the wrist straps, which look the part but don’t seem to serve much purpose.

It’s not perfect, but it gets the important things right. If you’re a fan of Leon’s look in Resident Evil Requiem, this is a jacket that’s easy to appreciate.
