The Witness is Reimagined in NES De-make

Are you an NES fan and love retro games and even de-makes of games? If so, then you are in luck, one fan is making a de-make of Thekla Inc.’s 2016 game The Witness for the Nintendo Entertainment System. This de-make stands as a reinterpretation and tribute to the original work.

A demo for the NES de-make is now available to download and also has a great title: The Wit.nes. As of now, these are the current features in the demo:

  • 32 puzzles with various rules to discover
  • Overhead world with 4-way scrolling
  • 16 full screens of map to explore
  • NROM based hardware, no mapper necessary!

You can play The Wit.nes de-make on NES emulators, or if you are handy you can make your own NES repro of the game for yourself – but I would suggest waiting for a final version of the de-make before doing that to add it to your own library of physical games.
