Nintendo NX will release worldwide in March 2017

Nintendo has announced that its next-generation console, codenamed Nintendo NX, will release worldwide in March 2017. Many had expected the console to release by the end of 2016, however we know now that won’t be the case.

However despite being just under a year away from release, Nintendo revealed that the NX will not be at E3 in June with the company instead focusing on the Wii U version of The Legend of Zelda, though they added that the console will be officially unveiled later this year. The Legend of Zelda on Wii U will also release in 2017 having originally been due to release this year. An NX port of the game has been confirmed to be in development though.

“Nintendo previously announced that it would release more information about its next system, code-named NX, this year,” Nintendo said. “For our dedicated video game platform business, Nintendo is currently developing a gaming platform codenamed ‘NX’ with a brand-new concept. NX will be launched in March 2017 globally.”

“NX will not make an appearance at the upcoming E3 video game trade show in Los Angeles in June and will be unveiled later this year,” they added.
