A Season Pass Too Far?

Dead or Alive 5: Last Round recently released its newest season pass earlier this month. As with most season passes, this will give you access to all the upcoming DLC packs for the year or so, which for DoA means 5 separate DLC packs including a new stage and 79 costumes overall. Now, I’m sure you are all eager for me to tell you all the tiny details of what each costume will be, but before you get too carried away with all the jiggly bits for your viewing pleasure in the most revealing outfits possible, first let’s talk money…

If you are interested in this newest offering, then you better have a damn good job or not be expecting to buy any new games for a while because this season pass will set you back… drumroll please… dramatic pause… a whopping $92.99 or around £65.00 depending on where in the world you live. That’s easily the cost of most special editions of brand new games for what is essentially cosmetic upgrades and one new stage.

I could go on for a long time about how I dislike season passes, but this isn’t an episode of “Hacked Off”, but surely this is a step too far by any judgement. I’m starting to feel as though us gamers are getting more and more blatantly ripped off by games developers who are just in it to see how much cash they can get out of us before releasing the next ‘copy and paste’ AAA title.

Maybe it’s just me who woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, or do you agree that season passes are starting to get out of hand? I’d love to hear your views in the comments.
