PS4 has sold 2.8 million units in Germany, compared to just 600,000 units for Xbox One

Sony’s PlayStation 4 is outperforming the Xbox One when it comes to console sales in Germany, which is Europe’s second-largest video game market.

The PS4 has sold 2.8 million units in Germany while Microsoft’s Xbox One has only managed to shift 600,000 units since both consoles released in November 2013. Sony’s console is outselling the Xbox One at a ratio of 4.6 to 1. Nintendo’s Wii U meanwhile has also sold more units than the Xbox One, having shifted 690,000 units since its release.

Sony’s last-gen console, the PlayStation 3, has sold 4.2 million units in Germany as of August 2014, putting the PS4 on track to beat PS3 console sales by the end of this console generation. In addition to that, the PS4 also outperformed the Xbox One over the festive period with 570,000 PS4 units being sold over Christmas compared to 110,000 units for the Xbox One.

As for game sales in Germany, GTA V sold 780,000 copies despite being initially released in 2013 for Xbox 360 and PS3, before coming to next-gen consoles in 2014. FIFA 16 performed strongly selling 1.2 million copies. FIFA 15, despite being released in 2014, still performed well selling 450,000 copies in 2015.
