Downloadable content for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, such as map-packs, will arrive on Sony’s PS4 and PS3 before Microsoft’s Xbox One and Xbox 360, Treyarch has announced, spelling an end to Microsoft’s Call of Duty exclusivity.
In previous Call of Duty games, all downloadable content had arrived on the Xbox platform first, with PlayStation owners having to wait a certain amount of time to see the DLC on their platform, however the shoe is now on the other foot after Sony have secured this latest deal with Treyarch. An exclusive beta will also be making its way onto the PlayStation 4 later this year.
Sony also sees the PlayStation 4 as the new home for Call of Duty, with Sony Group CEO Andrew House claiming that the deal will also continue beyond Black Ops 3 into future titles.
It is unclear though how long the period of exclusivity will be, however we expect it to be similar to the time of exclusivity Microsoft enjoyed.
