Mafia 3 release date set for April 26?

Mafia 3 will be releasing at the end of April, that is according to a pre-order card from Best Buy.

A picture of a pre-order card for the next game in the Mafia series from Best Buy has been posted online which states that Mafia 3 is “Available APR. 26”. The date given is rather specific and IGN have also noted that GameStop also had the game listed as releasing on April 26. With two retailers offering the same exact date rather than just “April 2016”, there’s a chance this could be legit and we may see Mafia 3 sooner than expected.

2K have declined to comment regarding the release date though, instead releasing a statement reiterating that Mafia 3 will releasing in 2016 and that no official release date has been announced.

“Mafia 3 will release in calendar 2016 during Take-Two Interactive’s fiscal year 2017. No official release date has been announced at this time. It is common practice for retailers to list placeholder dates before an official release date has been announced due to the requirements of their operating systems.”

Whilst it’s common practice and knowledge that retailers often have place holder release dates, most of the time they tend to be vague such as stating just a month or the very last date of a calandar month or year. However in Mafia 3’s case, it’s interesting to see that two retailers have given the same date.

Maybe we are getting excited over nothing? We’ll wait for an official announcement from 2K before getting too excited however.
