Bethesda has announced that they are extending Fallout 76’s battle royale pre-beta indefinitely, giving players and themselves extra time to test and refine the game mode before officially being released.
During E3, Bethesda released a pre-beta test for Nuclear Winter, which offered a sneak peek at the upcoming battle royale mode that would be coming to Fallout 76. Initially, it appeared that this beta would only be available for a limited amount of time, but Bethesda has now decided to extend it indefinitely.
It appears as if their decision has been influenced by the positive feedback they have received from players, which must make for a nice change given the rough journey Fallout 76 has had over the last 8 months or so.
Bethesda also confirmed that Nuclear Winter will now continue to receive updates based on players’ feedback. It would seem as if the battle royale mode is here to stay in beta form until they’re happy to finally release it once and for all.
In a blog post announcing the extension, Bethesda said, “We’ve been blown away by the reactions and responses we’ve been seeing all week to Nuclear Winter. It has been so amazing to read all your experiences and see everything you’ve been sharing. There are so many incredible up-and-coming Overseers! Vault 51 is lucky.
“With all the excitement and popularity, we wanted to let you know that the pre-beta sneak peek of Nuclear Winter will remain on and continue to receive updates, so keep sharing your feedback. There’s more to come! Thank you again for playing, sharing, and being the best community there is.”
Bethesda has continued to work hard in an attempt to turn Fallout 76 into the game many fans had been expecting. One of the biggest gripes with Fallout 76 was how empty the world felt, which wasn’t helped by the omission of human NPC characters. Thankfully, they’ll also be coming to the game in the form of a free expansion that is due to release later this year.
It’s going to be a busy few months for Fallout 76, that’s for sure.
