Blood & Truth Becomes First VR Game to Top Gaming Charts

Blood & Truth has become the first VR game to top the UK gaming charts after the game took this week’s number one spot.

The VR shooter beat off competition from the likes of FIFA 19, Team Sonic Racing and Days Gone, although as reported by GamesIndustry.biz, Blood & Truth only just took the top spot, with FIFA 19 lagging a mere 400 copies behind.

Nonetheless, the popularity of Blood & Truth will be a great boost to the popularity of virtual reality, and in particular to Sony’s PlayStation VR. Despite releasing less than a week ago, the game is already the UK’s second best-selling PSVR game, behind PlayStation VR Worlds. However, PlayStation VR Worlds is included in the majority of PSVR bundles, so it’s no surprise to see it remain as the best selling PSVR game.

The UK Video Game Charts only takes into account physical sales though, so it’s hard to gauge how many extra copies of Blood & Truth were sold digitally and whether or not that would have changed the makeup of this week’s Top 10 if they had been included. Of course, digital sales are a lot harder to track unless the information is released by the publishers.

GamesIndustry.biz also add that there were only 6,000 copies between the 40th placed game and number one, meaning that this week was particularly close. Last week’s number one, Team Sonic Racing, dropped two places to third after a 46% drop in sales. Days Gone and Red Dead Redemption II round off the top 5 games, while Rockstar’s other behemoth, Grand Theft Auto V, continues to sell well and is in at number 8.

Here is this week’s Top 10 in full.

  1. Blood & Truth
  2. FIFA 19
  3. Team Sonic Racing
  4. Days Gone
  5. Red Dead Redemption II
  6. Cricket 19: Official Game of the Ashes
  7. Mario Kart 9 Deluxe
  8. Grand Theft Auto V
  9. Forza Horizon 4
  10. Mortal Kombat 11
