The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is arguably one of this generation’s best games and has proven to be a massive success for CD Projekt Red since its release in 2015. If recent rumours are to be believed, the game’s popularity may be about to grow further as it looks like Nintendo Switch gamers may be getting another open-world game to dive into.
So far, you can only play The Witcher 3 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One or PC, but that may be about to a change as it looks like the title may be heading to the Nintendo Switch later this year. A social media post from a user on the Chinese social media network Weibo claimed to have heard from a distributor that The Witcher 3 would be coming to the Nintendo Switch in September 2019.
This Weibo post was included in a thread on ResetEra and contained a rough translation, which read as follows:
“[Breaking! Witcher 3 GOTY edition is coming to Switch in September.] According to a reliable source from distributor, Witcher 3 GOTY edition is coming to Switch in September. Chinese localization exclusive to Asia version.”
ResetEra user Jim_Cacher added that he checked Taobao.com, a Chinese online retailer, and found multiple listings from different sellers who were selling a Nintendo Switch copy of The Witcher 3. He also stated that the game was being sold by some ‘big sellers’.
Of course, these rumours should be taken with a pinch of salt until CD Projekt Red officially announce a Nintendo Switch version of The Witcher 3, if they do at all. For all we know, there may be no plans whatsoever to bring the game to the Switch. However, this isn’t the first time that a Switch version of The Witcher 3 has been rumoured.
Earlier this year, a listing for the Nintendo Switch versions of both The Witcher 3 and Assassin’s Creed III appeared on a French retailer’s website. As we know, Assassin’s Creed III Remastered released on the Switch earlier this month.
