World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth Is WoW’s Fastest Selling Expansion Ever

World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth has become the fastest selling expansion ever in the game’s history, Activision Blizzard has announced.

Blizzard revealed that over 3.4 million copies of Battle for Azeroth were sold worldwide when the expansion released on August 14th, setting a new franchise record in the process and becoming World of Warcraft’s fastest-selling expansion ever. Not only did it break WoW records, but Battle for Azeroth also became one of the fastest-selling PC games of all-time.

Battle for Azeroth is a definitive chapter in the Horde and Alliance conflict at the heart of Warcraft, and it’s been thrilling to see players representing their factions in record numbers and embarking on their war campaigns—not to mention joining in ourselves,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment.

“But the launch is just the beginning of this conflict. More epic content is coming to World of Warcraft in the weeks ahead, and we can’t wait for players to experience the full story as it unfolds over the course of the expansion.”

To keep gamers busy over the next few weeks and months, Blizzard will be providing a number of updates to the expansion, including a number of events to keep players entertained. The expansion’s first raid, Uldir, will open on September 4th, which will also signal the start of Battle for Azeroth’s first PvP and Mythic Keystone dungeon seasons.
