Kingdom Hearts 3 adds nostalgia to its list of tricks with its latest mini games addition.
The Classic Kingdom brings LCD-inspired minigames to the action RPG, complete with old school handheld overlays and graphics.
Unveiled at the Kingdom Hearts Union X (cross) Dandelion meeting, the trailer shows Sora in Twilight Town alongside Hayner, Pence and Ollete (I guess he kept his promise to come visit) playing on a Game & Watch-inspired Handheld Electronic Game system.
The minigame’s visual and art direction are inspired by Disney shorts of the 1920s and 1930s, like Giantland, The Karnival Kid and Musical Farmer, featuring Mickey Mouse and Pete designs similar to the ones in Timeless River (perhaps carrying their stories from KH2?)
There’s no word on how the minigame collection will play into the story or if they will simply be optional (I’m already having nightmares thinking about having to highscore them all to get ultimate weapon material), but the minigame collection will also be available to play in Kingdom Hearts Union X (cross).
Kingdom Hearts 3 is still set to launch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sometime in 2018, though no confirmed release date has been given yet.
