Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain ships 5 million units during first month

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain shipped 5 million units during the games first month of being on sale, Konami has announced in their 2nd Quarter Financial Results.

The 5 million units figure accounts for both physical and digital copies of the game which is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the PC. However no figure has been given revealing how many of those units were actually sold to consumers. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom pain did however manage to pull in over $179 million in the first day of its release. The development budget for MGS5V:TPP is said to be around $80 million, taking into account the marketing budget however the overall budget is likely to have soared past the $100 million mark.

Metal Gear Solid 5 was a major contributor to Konami’s Digital Entertainment division posting a 17.5% year-in-year increase in revenue for the first half of this financial year. Revenue for the first half of this financial year increased from 44bn Yen to 51.7bn Yen, with Konami expecting revenues of 106bn through its Digital Entertainment by March 2016.

Konami also mentioned the release of PES 2016 in their financial report, however no sales figures were included.
