Is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Heading to Xbox One Backwards Compatibility?

Modern Warfare 2 is arguably one of the most popular Call of Duty games ever released, but as of yet Activision and Microsoft have failed to bring the game to Xbox One via backwards compatibility.

However, that looks like that may be about to change as the Xbox One DVR logs show that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 could soon be playable on Xbox One. Not only that, but the Xbox DVR Twitter account also made reference to Modern Warfare 2 being available on Xbox One.

The Xbox DVR Twitter account did also previously say that Modern Warfare 2 would be added to Xbox One this week alongside Batman: Arkham Origins, but so far that hasn’t happened.

Modern Warfare 2 has been rumoured to be heading to Xbox One via backwards compatibility for some time now, especially as other titles in the COD franchise have been made available on Xbox One, including the likes of Black Ops and, of course, last year’s remaster of the first Modern Warfare game.

There were expectations that Activision may have released a remastered version of Modern Warfare 2 alongside the launch of Call of Duty: WWII later this year, similar to what happened last year with Infinite Warfare. However, a release of MW2 via backwards compatibility would almost certainly mean that a remastered version won’t be happening.

If you can’t wait that long to play Modern Warfare 2 on Xbox One, you can always whip out your last-gen systems with the game being available on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
