Xbox Scorpio Price Will Be $399 According to Analyst

We have a rough idea what Xbox Scorpio will bring to the table when it comes to power and performance, but the one thing we don’t know, and probably the most important factor if Xbox Scorpio will be a success, is the price. However, according to high-profile analyst Michael Pachter, Xbox Scorpio’s price will be set at $399 when it launches during the holiday season 2017.

There have been various estimates thrown around with regards to the Xbox Scorpio price, with some saying that Scorpio will retail at around the $500 mark, while others believe that Microsoft will opt for a lower price tag to make it competitive against Sony’s PlayStation 4 Pro.

Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz about his predictions for 2017, Pachter stated, “The Xbox Scorpio is priced at $399.”

However, he feels that Microsoft’s reasonable price tag may still not be low enough to see it compete against Sony, who he says could very well lower the price of PS4 Pro which could put Microsoft in a tricky situation.

“This might not be low enough, particularly if PS4 Pro drops before holiday 2017, but Microsoft has to price competitively or fall farther behind,” Pachter said.

He went on to add that the price of the PS4 will drop below $200 as Sony look to secure their lead over Microsoft.

“PS4 price goes to $199. I think Sony is intent upon keeping Microsoft in distant second, and expect a price cut for standard PS4 (slim) to $199 before year-end 2017.”

Michael Pachter’s prediction that Xbox Scorpio will be priced at $399 would fall in line with comments made by Xbox’s Phil Spencer earlier this month when he stated that Microsoft want to launch Scorpio at a “console price-point”.
