It looks like the Nintendo Switch will retail for under £200 in the UK as one retailer has already begun taking pre-orders for the Switch. Right now, you can pre-order a Nintendo Switch from UK Retailer GameSeek for the price of £198.50, with the retailer guaranteeing to fulfil any pre-orders that are made.
Nintendo are yet to officially announce the retail price of the Nintendo Switch, however GameSeek seem confident that they’ve got the price point spot-on as they are locking in all pre-orders made at the current price, regardless of whether or not the price increases between now and the time the Switch releases.
“In addition to providing single-player and multiplayer thrills at home, the Nintendo Switch system also enables gamers to play the same title wherever, whenever and with whomever they choose,” reads the Switch’s description. “The mobility of a handheld is now added to the power of a home gaming system to enable unprecedented new video game play styles.”
“At home, Nintendo Switch rests in the Nintendo Switch dock that connects the console to the TV and lets you play with family and friends in the comfort of your living room. By simply lifting the Nintendo Switch console from the dock, it will instantly transition to handheld mode, and the same great gaming experience that was being enjoyed at home now travels with you. The portability of Nintendo Switch is enhanced by its bright high-definition display. It brings the full home gaming system experience with you to the park, on a train, in a car, or to a friend’s apartment”
A few weeks ago it was reported that the Nintendo Switch would retail at around the £200 mark with GAME believed to be preparing to sell the basic Switch console for £199.99 with an another version with more storage being offered for £249.99.
With the sources from GAME as well as this latest offering from GameSeek, it’s safe to assume that the Nintendo Switch will launch with a price of £199.99 in the UK. In North America, that would mean that the Nintendo Switch is likely to be available for just $250.
There’s always a chance that the Nintendo Switch will cost more though. We can’t know for certain until Nintendo make an official announcement however all the sources add up as its unlikely that GAME or other retailers will offer the Switch at a price much below the RRP. Unless there’s still a tidy profit to be made…
What do you think the Nintendo Switch price will be?
