Hyboria is calling you. Starting this January on PC (early access) and later this Spring on Xbox One (games preview), you will be able to try to survive these savage lands. If there ever was an IP that seemed to be a perfect fit for the survival genre, Conan is it. If the “civilized” world of Conan wasn’t brutal enough, as the name implies, you have been exiled. Trying to survive in this world seems like the living embodiment of Hobbes’ Leviathan.

“During the time men live without a common power to keep them all in awe, they are in that conditions called war; and such a war, as if of every man, against every man.
“To this war of every man against every man, this also in consequent; that nothing can be unjust. The notions of right and wrong, justice and injustice have there no place. Where there is no common power, there is no law, where no law, no injustice. Force, and fraud, are in war the cardinal virtues.
“No arts; no letters; no society; and which is worst of all, continual fear, and danger of violent death: and the life of man, solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short.”
It will be interesting to see what Funcom has in store for Conan: Exiles. It seems like this won’t just be a completely open wasteland to try and survive in but rather one that will incorporate the rich history built upon by Howard’s Conan stories. Of course, there will be things also included from the movies that should be instantly recognizable to any Conan fans: Wheel of Pain, anyone? Sacrifices to Gods, dark forces from ancient civilizations, building of fortifications, survival here is going to require more than just making sure you are well fed. Heck, you might even be able to punch a horse this time around. By Crom!
