Following months of speculation, Activision has officially announced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which will be releasing on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on October 25th.
Activision teased this year’s Call of Duty title in a reveal trailer, which gave us a glimpse of the game’s much-improved graphics thanks to its brand new engine. This will also see cross-play support for the game’s multiplayer mode, allowing PS4, Xbox One, and PC players to play together. It’s understood, however, that only PC players using a controller will be able to join matches with console players.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will also see the series return to its roots by offering a fully fledged single-player campaign, which will have players taking part in and witness a number of events based on recent real-life scenarios. Not only that, but the trailer also confirmed that Modern Warfare fan-favourite Captain John Price will feature heavily throughout the game’s single-player campaign.
It’s also been confirmed that Activision will be scrapping the Season Pass this year, which as expected, has been positively received by the gaming community. Instead, they will be offering all players free maps and content following the game’s launch to ensure that the player base doesn’t become divided.
