Star Wars Battlefront Beta Stirs Some More Hatred Towards EA… Again

After announcing the Star Wars Battlefront (Open) Beta on the Star Wars Battlefront subreddit, Mat “Sledgehammer70” Everett, Community Manager for Star Wars Battlefront and Titanfall, stuck around a little more and answered some questions. And it’s a global tragedy apparently, at least according to most of reddit.

Everett was asked if he can confirm that the game will have a server browser on consoles. “Star Wars Battlefront will not offer a server browser, but will utilize a new skill based matchmaking system.” he replied. There are no details, as of yet, about how this new matchmaking system will work and Everett did not comment on whether this issue is true only for consoles. It does, however, seem like this will also be the case for PC as suggested by @EAStarWars on twitter.

The other issue discussed by Mat Everett is music copyright strikes. When asked about whether or not youtubers should expect copyright strikes from Lucasfilm for the in-game music, he replied that “You will most likely need to turn music off.”. This is of course to be expected since usually publishers/developers buy the rights to use music in their games, but that doesn’t cover other methods of distribution, like YouTube, Twitch, etc.

The Star Wars Battlefront Beta will be coming early October this year to PlayStation 4, XBox One and PC and anyone who registers will be able to participate.
