The Witcher 3 May Have Been the Last Witcher Game, No Witcher 4 Planned, Says CD Projekt Red

The Witcher 3 has been a massive success since it released a year ago, however, the final piece of DLC, Blood and Wine, which releases on May 31st, may be the last piece of Witcher content we get for a very long time, if at all.

Speaking in an interview with Eurogamer, CD Projekt co-founder Marcin Iwinski stated that there is nothing planned with regards to The Witcher 4, adding that they don’t know if there ever will be another one.

“We honestly don’t know. We don’t have anything planned as of now to be honest on the next Witcher,” said Iwinski when asked if The Witcher series would be done for good following the release of Blood and Wine.

He added, “As we said before, never say never [but] right now it’s really Blood and Wine. This is the end. Blood and Wine is [the] closing and there won’t be any Witcher any time soon – if there ever will be one. And I would really like to see how people feel about it, if they will enjoy it.”

The studio had revealed recently that over the next six years, they plan to release Cyberpunk 2077, as well as another triple-A role-playing game which is scheduled for release between 2017 and 2021. There had been some hope that the unannounced triple-A RPG that CD Projekt Red are working on was The Witcher 4, unfortunately that’s not the case.

“I can assure you we are not working on another Witcher,” Iwinski added.
