007 First Light – Guns, Gadgets and Girls

Finally, James Bond is Back!

It has been a LONG wait for any James Bond gaming fans. The last real standalone James Bond gaming adventure was the awesome James Bond 007: Blood Stone for the Xbox 360/PS3 released back in November 2010, a whopping 15 years ago! Yes, we had GoldenEye 007: Reloaded released a year later in November 2011 and 007 Legends in October 2012, but as new James Bond adventures go, we are back to 2010’s Blood Stone

That is a LONG dry spell, and there have been rumours and hopes of new Bond games since then, but finally, at last, the meat has been put on the Project 007 bones, with the drop of the new trailer for IO Interactive’s upcoming game, 007 First Light.

As you will see from this trailer, the game looks set to tick all the boxes Bond fans would want: globe-trotting to stunning world locations, stealth, style, sophistication, along with guns, gadgets, and girls! Throw in some fisticuffs and what looks to be an Aston Martin car means that I, a very critical Bond fan, am hyped that the developers look to be honouring the source material of what makes the James Bond character so appealing. Heck, they have even got it right that, as per the books, Bond has a facial scar!

If I had to choose which developer I would have wanted to make a Bond game, I would have chosen IO Interactive as their Hitman series has been the closest thing to a Bond game we have had in these times. Even Sam Fisher of Splinter Cell fame has gone AWOL now as well, so what else has there been? Add to this the excellent quality of the Hitman series, then it’s clear I feel very comfortable with these developers at the reins.

It is with renewed hope after seeing this trailer and visiting the developer’s site that they really seem to be on board with the correct direction for a Bond game. Please don’t mess this up, IO Interactive. Myself and so many others are counting on you with this one!

Stay with us here at Gaming Respawn as we hope to bring you more news and views of this superb-looking game’s release sometime in 2026.
