Nintendo Switch 2 Formally Unveiled Alongside a New Mario Kart

Well, it has FINALLY happened. The Nintendo Switch 2, long speculated on and leaked in terms of design and whatnot, has been officially shown off in a first-look debut trailer with just one game showcased. However, the selected game was a GOOD ONE!

Here’s the trailer from Nintendo’s YouTube Channel:

The Nintendo Switch 2 trailer revealed bigger Joy-Cons, more USB ports, wider (width-based) kickstand, mouse functionality with the new Joy-Cons, and more.

At the end, however, they showed off Mario Bros. Circuit, a new track from the new Mario Kart X/Mario Kart 9. It features updated character models, such as Mario’s design from Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Donkey Kong’s design from The Super Mario Bros. Movie. The karts look more artsy and less “realistic” than in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. In addition… there are (presumably!) 24 racers per race. Multiplayer and Grand Prix shenanigans are about to explode big time!

The presentation concluded with a 2025 release window, a bit more clarification on Switch 1 Backwards Compatibility on Switch 2, a Nintendo Switch 2-themed Nintendo Direct set for April 2nd, 2025, and a series of Nintendo Switch 2 Hands-On Experiences across the world and within the US (including New York City!).

Lastly, on the subject of that Switch 2 Hands-on Experience, it takes place in the following locations, each over various 3-day periods. Here’s the full list: New York, Dallas, Los Angeles, Paris, London, Berlin, Milan, Toronto, Tokyo, Amsterdam, Madrid, Seoul, and Melbourne. The process for being picked is simple:
You make a Free Nintendo account, go online, and sign-up for a chance to get a ticket.

Sign up starts tomorrow at 3pm EST and runs until the 26th at 11:59pm EST.
The experience runs from April 4th to June 11th. The US locations (Dallas, New York, and Los Angeles) are for USA residents only. Not sure about how the rest of the world’s locations are going be handled at this point.

We’ll let you know if we here at Gaming Respawn able to attend any of these events.
