StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void Available for Pre-Order

The last expansion for StarCraft II, Legacy of the Void, is now Available for pre-order. The expansion features a new Protoss campaign and new multiplayer features such as Automated Tournaments (Daily competitions), the Archon Mode (Two Player Single Base Control) and the Allied Commanders (Objective Based Co-Op).

The new expansion will be standalone and is available for pre-purchase in 3 different editions:

  • The Standard Edition ($39.99) which will also include access to an upcoming Warrior Hero in Heroes of the Storm
  • The Digital Deluxe Edition ($59.99) which will include all the above plus various items in other Blizzard games
  • The retail-exclusive Collector’s Edition (pricing not yet listed) which will include all the above plus “a special edition of the upcoming full-color hardcover StarCraft Field Manual; a DVD loaded with cinematics and special features; and a CD soundtrack.”

Pre-purchasing will also grant access to the ongoing Legacy of the Void beta test and pre-purchasing from the battle.net store will grant immediate access in the beta of the three “Whispers of Oblivion” prologue missions.

Along with Legacy of the Void being available for pre-purchase, the Heart of the Swarm expansion becomes standalone, the Wings of Liberty no longer being needed in order to play Heart of the Swarm. Following this, Blizzard released all the assets for modders so that they now “only need to own any one of the StarCraft II releases (Wings of Liberty, Heart of the Swarm, or the upcoming Legacy of the Void) to publish Arcade games that use assets from all expansions.”
