According to a news post from GamesIndustry.biz, Sony Computer Entertainment will be forgoing any sort of presence at Electronic Entertainments Expo (E3) for the second year in a row. This comes after the company skipped last year’s event entirely and with the upcoming reveal of the PlayStation 5 to take place later in 2020.
Sony has released the following statement:
After thorough evaluation SIE has decided not to participate in E3 2020. We have great respect for the ESA as an organization, but we do not feel the vision of E3 2020 is the right venue for what we are focused on this year. We will build upon our global events strategy in 2020 by participating in hundreds of consumer events across the globe. Our focus is on making sure fans feel part of the PlayStation family and have access to play their favorite content. We have a fantastic line up of titles coming to PlayStation 4, and with the upcoming launch of PlayStation 5, we are truly looking forward to a year of celebration with our fans.
E3 2020 will be held from June 9th to 11th at the Los Angeles Convention Center, and while Sony will not be in attendance, the company is still dedicated to attending and hosting numerous events throughout 2020 in the run-up to the PlayStation 5’s launch. Many other companies and game publishers, such as Microsoft and Nintendo, have yet to comment on whether or not they will be attending E3 2020.
