Leak Shows That Watch Dogs 3 Is Called Watch Dogs Legion and Focuses on Post-Brexit London

Ubisoft is yet to officially announce this year’s Watch Dogs game, and while we haven’t had any details from them, what we do know is that the third game in the series will be released later this year.

With E3 just around the corner, a listing for the PlayStation 4 version of Watch Dogs 3 has appeared on Amazon UK and in the process has revealed lots of new details about the game, not least of which is the fact that it’s actually called Watch Dogs Legion.

The Amazon listing also confirms the London setting, which isn’t much of a surprise given previous rumours that have all but confirmed that the game is heading to the UK. The listing does state that Watch Dogs Legion is set in ‘post-Brexit London’ where “society, politics and technology have changed and altered London’s fortunes”.

The leak also states that you will be able to play as any individual you meet in the game as every NPC has a full set of animations, voice over, character traits and visuals. It’s not clear if this is central to the game’s progression, or if it’s just an added feature that allows you to drop in and out of NPC characters as you please.

Ubisoft has commented previously that they try to keep politics out of their games, even if those games are centered around political events. It’s interesting to see Ubisoft make reference to a ‘post-Brexit’ London as Brexit is a highly contentious issue in the United Kingdom. Given that it is currently dominating the political scene in the UK, however, it does make sense for Ubisoft to incorporate on-going events into their game.

It will be interesting to see though if they make any passing comments in-game on the situation and whether or not they lean towards claiming it to be a good or bad thing for the country. By heading specifically to ‘post-Brexit London’, you can’t help but wonder how Ubisoft will be able to stick to their policy of being ‘apolitical’ in their games.

Given that this has been leaked by Amazon UK, the largest online retailer in the world, it’s safe to say the information provided in the listing is genuine. Not only that, but the leak has also been confirmed by Kotaku as being true.

Expect Ubisoft to announce Watch Dogs Legion during their E3 Conference later this month, with a late 2019 release date looking likely.
