Crackdown 3 Suffers Delay

According to two sources, Crackdown 3 has been delayed again. The open-world action and adventure title is now expected to release next year in 2019.

This is not the first time it’s been delayed. The third Crackdown game was first announced back in 2014 at E3 and was initially set to be released in 2016. However, this was changed to November 2017, which meant it would arrive alongside the Xbox One X, but it happened to be delayed again to an unspecified date in the 2nd or 3rd quarter of 2018. Now we are expecting the title to release in 2019.

This situation doesn’t do Microsoft any favors. Although Sea of Thieves and State of Decay 2 have been released this year, there aren’t a whole lot of other major Xbox One exclusives set for the remainder of 2018.

They’ve experienced worse fortune in the past by announcing several first-party titles that failed to materialise and never even got released. These games include Scalebound, a remake of Phantom Dust, plus the controversial project Fable Legends.

The third instalment in the Crackdown series is currently being worked on by the British developers Reagent Games. They’re teaming up with Sumo Digital and working alongside the former Realtime Worlds head, David Jones, who created the series. Microsoft are publishing the title. On release, the game is scheduled to be available to play for no additional cost for subscribers of the Xbox Game Pass.

Crackdown 3 is set to retain the core gameplay of the previous entries in the series, Crackdown and Crackdown 2. The game will revolve around players taking down different criminal organisations that control the city of New Providence by eliminating their bosses, kingpins and destroying their facilities.
