The upcoming State of Decay 2, sequel to the zombie survival game State of Decay, has recently announced a Collector’s Edition ahead of the game’s launch later this month.
The announcement came from Microsoft’s ‘Xbox Wire’ site, which came with the following statement:
“At Xbox, we focus on giving players a lot of choices to show their love for our franchises. Last week, we announced that State of Decay 2 will be launching on May 22, 2018 with both a Standard Edition and an Ultimate Edition (as well as a part of Xbox Game Pass). Today, we have something new to announce for the zombie survival fan: the State of Decay 2 Collector’s Edition.”
The Collector’s Edition includes several goodies, including a zombie mask, a steel box case, a human brain steelbook stand, patch and a literal ‘thumb drive.’ The whole bundle will be priced around $69.99 (allowing for regional differences and possible deviations from different retailers). Though, it is worth mentioning that the Collector’s Edition doesn’t come with the base game. Therefore, you will need to purchase the game separately, either at the standard price of $29.99, or the Ultimate Edition for $49.99. So, in one interpretation, the Collector’s Edition actually costs at least $99.98, if you intend to play the game.
Notably, the Xbox Wire website has since added an edit to the announcement, which makes it slightlty clearer that the Collector’s Edition doesn’t include the base game.
As of right now, the Collector’s Edition is only available in US territories. This may change in the future to include different areas.
