Xbox One X, previously named Project Scorpio, will be launching worldwide on November 7th and will be the most powerful console ever produced, Microsoft has announced during its E3 conference.
Xbox One X will be releasing with a price of $499, which is just under £400 based on current currency exchange rates.
Microsoft’s latest console will release with a six teraflops GPU, almost two teraflops more than that included in Sony’s PlayStation 4 Pro which only has 4.2 teraflops. Xbox One X will also be using a custom GPU engine developed by Microsoft which will run at 1,172MHz. For comparison, Xbox One runs at 853MHz with PS4 Pro running at 911MHZ. In addition to that, the console will also ship with an Ultra HD Blu-ray drive capable of displaying 4K movies.
While Xbox One X is definitely a lot more powerful than the standard Xbox One console, Microsoft were keen to reiterate that all Xbox games will be playable across all Xbox One consoles, although games running on Xbox One X will see a noticeable boost in performance. All Xbox One accessories and peripherals will also work on Xbox One X.
If you’re worried about how big a machine this powerful will be, you needn’t worry as Xbox One X will be the smallest Xbox ever made.
