New Trailer of Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding Released at Game Awards Features Mads Mikkelsen

A new trailer for Death Stranding, Hideo Kojima’s first game post Konami, has been released at the 2016 Game Awards. The announcement trailer back at E3 was a little confusing, to say the least, and this one keeps the trend.

In the trailer we see a character, who has a striking resemblance to Guillermo Del Toro, carrying a baby in an incubation container. The character is in a war torn city, with planes flying overhead and troops marching on the bridge above him. A tank drives past with some sort of tentacles meshed in it, as if it has become a living creature. All over the floor are carcasses of several crab like creatures and a baby doll, which then comes to life at the end of the trailer.

We then follow the camera through a tunnel, filled with a black liquid. In the dark we find Mads Mikkelsen, one of the world’s best actors, best known for his portrayal of Hannibal Lector in the hit NBC TV series. Mads Mikkelsen is attached to several soldiers by a cable, which detach and then retract into him. Mads Mikkelsen also joins The Walking Dead‘s Norman Reedus in what is shaping up to be a star-studded cast.

The trailer was released after Hideo Kojima picked up the Industry Icon award. This is still early development and is filled with mystery, but is certainly a game to keep track of. Death Stranding will be released for PS4 and PC.
