Netflix has listened to its 80 million-odd subscribers and has at last started to allow content to be downloaded and viewed offline. At the moment the much-awaited feature is only available for smartphones and tablets, but it is a huge step for the company since they seemed to be against the idea of downloading content compared to their competitors such as Amazon Video, who have had the feature for a while now.
Edward Wu has released a press statement detailing the feature. At the moment not all of the content on Netflix is available, but there is a substantial amount of content to begin with such as the new Netflix Original series The Crown, Charlie Brooker’s incredible Black Mirror, and some old favourites such as Peep Show. Downloading content is very simple with an ‘Available for Download’ option added to the top of the Netflix app.
