Could The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim be Heading to PS4 Soon via PS Now?

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim may be playable on the PlayStation 4 in the future after an image has surfaced online which shows Skyrim coming up in a search on PlayStation Now.

While this wouldn’t be a remastered version of the game, it would at least allow gamers to play Skyrim on their PS4 consoles. However a good internet connection would be required as PlayStation Now is a streaming service and considering the size of Skyrim, you would need a very good and stable connection to be able to play the game consistently without any issues. Still, it would be a welcomed addition for those who wish to play Skyrim on their current-gen console and have the capabilities to do so.

Unlike Xbox One which has backwards compatability, PlayStation 4 owners are able to play last-gen games on their console in two ways. If they get a remastered edition as was the case for The Last of Us, Beyond Two Souls and Heavy Rain or if the game gets released on PlayStation Now.

PlayStation Now is a subscription based service which allows subscribers to play a wide variety of games on their PlayStation 4 by streaming them to their consoles. It means that older games have been able to be played on the PlayStation 4 as well as current games without the need to purchase them yourself. Essentially, it is Sony’s way of allowing PS4 gamers to play older games via a cloud for a small monthly fee.

It’s been nearly 5 years since Skyrim released on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC and there is definitely demand for a remastered version or backwards compatible version of Skyrim for PS4 and Xbox One owners. Maybe an announcement will be made at E3 2016 by Bethesda regarding a remastered edition?

Maybe. Maybe not. Although there are rumours circulating that the next game in the Elder Scrolls franchise may be revealed during E3 in June.
