New Details about Fallout 4: Far Harbor Revealed Following Data Mining

Fallout 4: Far Harbor will be releasing next month however Bethesda so far haven’t revealed too many details surrounding the next DLC for Fallout 4 which is said to be the biggest piece of DLC that Bethesda have ever created.

Far Harbor is said to be bigger than all previous expansions for any of Bethesda’s games, including Dragonborn for Skyrim and Oblivion’s The Shivering Isle. It will have the largest landmass for any add-on ever made by Bethesda and will be filled with new faction quests, settlements, creatures and dungeons. What we do know is that Far Harbor will take players to a brand new mysterious island as players take on a new case from Valentine’s Detective Agency which involves searching for a young woman and a secret colony of synths. As you’d expect, there are a number of different conflicts going on between the synths, the Children of Atom and the local inhabitants of Far Harbor.

One Reddit user, WilliamWallace2k14, decided to have a look through the files for Fallout 4 when he discovered a folder titled “DLC03” (Far Harbor) which had some juicy pieces of information inside. One of the first things he came across while data mining was a new enemy that may be included in Far Harbor, the Ghoul Yao Guai and Giant Squids. Inside the Ghoul Yao Guai folder was a mesh for the creature giving us a glimpse of what it may look like:

After doing some more digging, he came across textures for what appears to be a Giant Squid, as seen below. If true, this means that it is likely that Far Harbor may include some underwater combat and exploration. It’s been rumoured by players that a DLC for Fallout 4 will take advantage of the huge stretches of water featured in the game, giving way to even more reasons to explore the depths of the oceans in the hope that something big will be discovered.

In addition to the possible new creatures which may make their way into Far Harbor, WilliamWallace2k14 also claims to have found references to a harpoon gun, suggesting that it may now officially make its way into the game after previously being leaked several months ago. The addition of the harpoon gun may further suggest underwater combat may be be a feature in Far Harbor. It’s also speculated that Far Harbor may include a Rapture style city as well.

You can grab Far Harbor on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in May.
