Naughty Dog Confirm No Plans for The Last of Us Part 2 DLC

Naughty Dog’s creative producer Neil Druckmann has revealed that the studio has no plans to release any DLC for The Last of Us Part II.

In an interview with the Kinda Funny Gamecast on YouTube, Druckmann wasted no time in confirming that they had absolutely no plans when asked about the possibility of any upcoming DLC.

“No, with Last of Us I think we had some season pass or something that said ahead of time we have some story DLC – no there’s no plans for that,” he stated.

The news will disappoint fans of the franchise who were hoping that The Last of Us Part II would get a story DLC similar to Left Behind from the first game. The Left Behind DLC was released less than a year after The Last of Us hit stores in June 2013 and shed light on how Ellie became infected and discovered her immunity. It also helped fill in the blanks as to how Ellie saved Joel’s life during the main game.

Without giving away any spoilers, there will be plenty of moments in The Last of Us Part II that fans would be keen to see explored in more detail in order to fill in the gaps.

Unfortunately, for the time being at least, some of these loose ends will not be tied up. Druckmann has not ruled out the possibility of Naughty Dog developing The Last of Us Part III however, although he did state that they would “really have to figure out how to create a new experience that matches the emotional impact” of the first two games.
