The Last of Us Part II – What We Know So Far

As ever eager fans of The Last of Us Part II await its release, here are some things that we already know so far about Ellie herself and the emotional journey that she is soon to set upon.

Stunning visuals give you an even more immersive experience
Ellie now has her own dedicated jump button, bringing a new depth to gameplay and combat diversity. The whole theme behind the game is to put you in Ellie’s shoes, to really question not only the choices you make in-game but also yourself. Survival is everything, fight or flight. Always keep moving. The added ability to go prone also brings more options to the stealth element of the game, such as lying down in long grass to craft and finding new ways to traverse the landscape or hide under vehicles to escape the enemy. But, with improved enemy AI they are able to search under those vehicles to find you.

To flee or not to flee, that is the question...
Think fast. Now, in hand-to-hand combat with an enemy, you have a chance to dodge an attack and counter back with a devastating blow of your own. Explore everywhere. Make the most of those quiet moments when you’re not surrounded by enemies or putting your nerves through its paces while hiding from Clickers. Live with the choices you make. There isn’t enough gear for crafting, nor are there enough opportunities to fully upgrade Ellie or your equipment, so think smart as once you make your choice, there’s no going back.

It’s certainly shaping up to be what I think will be the biggest release this year. Even with the push backs it’s had on its release date, fans are sure to enjoy every mentally draining moment of it. So, have your tissues in-hand and your therapists on standby. It’s going to be one hell of a ride.

The Last of Us Part II is set to release on 19th June on PS4.
