Retr0bright in the UK – Mupple Corner

retr0brite

Another week(ish) and another Mupple Corner!! This week we provide you with a brand steaming new Mupple video hot off the presses. This time we’re talking Retr0bright, and if you don’t know what that is, then you’re in the right place!

Living in the UK can make Retr0brighting a bit of a difficult process since the chemicals aren’t as easily available, neither is the sunlight or heat, for that matter! Will explores some alternative options that might help anyone with yellowed-ABS plastics in the UK to sort out their horribly stained consoles and games!

The process of Retr0brighting will be familiar to anyone who has ever ended up with a horribly yellowed Game Boy or microcomputer. These devices were treated with a fire-resistant chemical called ABS. While this was a great move for fire safety, it’s ended up being a bit of a bummer for the plastics themselves, which tend to go yellow when exposed to UV light over time.

Luckily, a German tech nerd managed to figure out a way of reversing the process using a combination of hydrogen peroxide and UV light/heat. Over the years, this method has saved many a computer and helped prop departments all over the world to get their ancient computers looking brand-spanking new all over again.

If you live in the UK and you’ve struggled to make it work, then check out the video above and you might just get the help that you’ve been looking for! If you enjoyed the video, drop a like and share it with others if you think they’ll find it useful or interesting. Also, subscribe for more in the near future!

What do you think of Retr0bright? Do you have positive experiences with the process? Let us know what you think in the comments down below.
