UPDATE: Treyarch has confirmed on Twitter that the private beta for the Blackout battle royale mode will be available on PlayStation 4 on September 10th, with other platforms gaining entry at a later date.
ORIGINAL STORY:
With the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 multiplayer beta now finished, attention has turned to September’s release of the Black Ops 4 battle royale beta. No exact date has been given by Activision yet with regards to when the Blackout beta will begin; however, a recent image has been circulating that supposedly shows the release date.
The image, which was posted on Reddit by user vorkot3, shows a release date of September 8th for the Blackout beta.
Reddit user vorkot3 claims that the image was sent to him by a friend through Discord. He also notes that the same image appeared in GlitchhingQueen’s video. It is not clear where the source of the image originated from.
While Activision hasn’t denied the rumour, it does seem likely that this image is either a fake or a misinterpretation. Firstly, if the date correctly shows September 8th, that’s a Saturday, and it would be strange, to say the least, for Activision to release the beta on that day.
However, what gives it away is the fact that nowhere in the image does it actually state that this is for the Blackout beta. Not only that, but the current Microsoft Store page for the Black Ops 4 private beta looks the same.
It seems most likely though that there has been a confusion with the date. There is no way to verify whether or not this image is taken from the UK or US store; however, in the UK, the date in the picture would read as 9th August 2018, which is when the multiplayer Beta started. The store page still displays that date in the same format in the UK.
What should also be noted though is that the description included on the Black Ops 4 page shows a different release date to the one posted by Microsoft under the “Additional Information” section, although it seems likely that this is just an error.
What we do know for sure though is that the Blackout beta is definitely coming in September, so there won’t be too much longer to wait before we get to see Call of Duty’s take on the battle royale mode.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 launches worldwide on October 12th for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
