A third party company called Hori has made a Nintendo Switch Joy-Con with a traditional D-pad embedded. They have two themes – Mario and Zelda, plus they are $25. However, to make these controllers more affordable, the Joy-Cons are missing some features for the low price.
These Joy-Cons will only be usable when using the Nintendo Switch in handheld mode and attached to the system. They lack ruble support, gyroscope, will not work on a grip or on a grip charger.
The D-pad embedded Switch (L) Joy-Con is available in Japan but has a battery drain bug; however, the developers have said that they are fixing it for the Western release, which is expected to be later this September.
